“Queen of Tears” is currently one of the most talked-about Korean dramas among fans. This series marks the latest creation of renowned writer Park Ji Eun, known for producing several hit dramas, including “Crash Landing on You,” which aired in 2019.
As is customary, writers often collaborate with actors and actresses who have previously worked with them. Consequently, Park Ji Eun invited several actors from “Crash Landing on You” to join the cast of “Queen of Tears.” Here are six Korean actors and actresses who made the crossover:
1. Kim Soo Hyun
Kim Soo Hyun takes on the role of Baek Hyun Woo, a lawyer and legal director married into a wealthy family in “Queen of Tears.” Despite his good nature, he struggles with communication issues with his wife, Hong Hae In (Kim Ji Won), leading to marital strain.
This marks Kim Soo Hyun’s fourth collaboration with writer Park Ji Eun, following his roles in “My Love from the Star” (2012) and “The Producers” (2015). He also made a special appearance in “Crash Landing on You” as a North Korean spy, reminiscent of his character in the film “Secretly Greatly” (2013).
2. Kim Jung Nan
Known for stealing scenes with her acting prowess, Kim Jung Nan portrays Hong Hae In’s aunt in “Queen of Tears.” Despite her stern exterior, she is a warm-hearted individual who fiercely protects her family—a role that resonates with her portrayal in “Crash Landing on You” as the leader of a border village.
3. Na Young Hee
Na Young Hee, known for her frequent appearances in Park Ji Eun’s dramas, had a cameo role in “Crash Landing on You” as the owner of a clothing shop. In “Queen of Tears,” she embodies a mother figure with a strained relationship with her daughter due to unresolved guilt over her son’s death.
4. Kim Young Min
Transitioning from supporting to leading roles, Kim Young Min plays a compassionate resident of Yongdu-ri village in “Queen of Tears.” He offers solace to Baek Du Gwna (Jeon Bae Su) and hints at a potential romance with Hong Beom Ja (Kim Jung Nan), sparking intrigue among viewers.
5. Ko Kyu Pil
Despite a brief appearance, Ko Kyu Pil shines as a scene-stealer in “Queen of Tears” as a friend who helps Baek Hyun Woo navigate a potential scandal. In “Crash Landing on You,” he portrayed one of Yoon Se Ri’s trusted employees, leaving a memorable impression on viewers.
6. Lim Chul Soo
Like Ko Kyu Pil, Lim Chul Soo makes a special appearance in “Queen of Tears,” reprising his role as a scandal preventer alongside Baek Hyun Woo. In “Crash Landing on You,” he played an insurance employee dedicated to finding Yoon Se Ri, showcasing bromance chemistry with his close friend, Hong Chang Sik (Ko Kyu Pil).
