Yeo Jin Goo, the talented South Korean actor, recently opened up about his journey in an episode of A Very Private Art Museum on YouTube channel 14F The Great Hall. During the interview, he shared a personal and heartfelt story about experiencing a significant slump in his acting career during his teenage years. This period, however, became a pivotal moment for him, shaping his growth and resilience as an actor.
Rising to Fame: The Early Years
Yeo Jin Goo’s career trajectory took a notable turn in 2012 with the drama The Moon Embracing The Sun. This show catapulted him to fame, earning him widespread recognition and praise. Reflecting on this period, Yeo Jin Goo described it as life-changing.
“It was really amazing at that time. That work changed my life drastically for the next 1-2 years. I also experienced a lot of pressure and responsibility, but I handled it well because I received a lot of love and praise,” he explained. Despite his young age, the actor showed remarkable dedication and hard work, laying a solid foundation for his future career.
Struggles Behind the Spotlight
However, the journey was not without its challenges. Yeo Jin Goo revealed that at the height of his early success, he faced significant internal conflicts. At just 15 years old, the pressure of living up to his growing reputation took a toll on him.
“I was under a lot of pressure when my acting results were not as I wanted. I suddenly felt like I didn’t know much about acting. I think this was the biggest setback. I didn’t enjoy going to the filming location, but I still had to finish it,” he shared emotionally. This phase of self-doubt and dissatisfaction marked a low point in his career, making him question his passion and skills.
Finding Strength in Memories
Despite these challenges, Yeo Jin Goo found a way to navigate through his struggles. He discovered that his love for acting was deeply rooted in the beautiful memories he had from his childhood.
“When I’m in that situation, I feel comforted by the beautiful memories of acting. I also spent a lot of my childhood acting and I look back on it as a beautiful memory. I thought I would only last for the next 10 years, but I feel like I can work until I’m 30 if I remember those memories,” he expressed.
Yeo Jin Goo’s determination and passion for acting have been evident in his performances. His latest appearance in Hijack 1971 (2024), currently showing in Indonesian cinemas, showcases his continued dedication to his craft.
