The Atypical Family (2024) has captivated audiences since its release on Netflix. One of the major questions lingering among viewers is whether Bok Gwi Ju (Jang Ki Yong) was the one who saved Do Da Hae (Chun Woo Hee) in the past.
The Mystery of Do Da Hae’s Savior
From the beginning of the series, Do Da Hae often mentioned a mysterious savior from her past. In her efforts to manipulate Bok Gwi Ju, she hinted that he might be her rescuer. However, by episode 6, Do Da Hae decided to come clean, hoping to end her family’s deceit. Despite this, Bok Gwi Ju began to believe he might indeed be the one who saved her. The question remains, whether Do Da Hae also has superpowers. Or he and Bok Gwi Ju just have a fate that has been tied for a long time.

In episode 8, we learn that Do Da Hae’s rescuer wore a ring belonging to the Bok family. Initially, Do Da Hae thought the ring was from her sunbae, Chief Jung, who died in a fire. This revelation adds another layer of complexity to the storyline. Approaching the end of episode 8, Bok Gwi Ju realizes that his family ring is still in the storage room. Are there any other theories regarding the Bok family ring? Moreover, at the end of episode 7, there was a hand touching Eu Sun Gu’s (Oh Man Seok) shoulder at the club. The hands wear the same ring.

Bok Man Heum’s Dream
At the end of episode 8, Bok Man Heum (Ko Du Shim) has a revealing dream. She sees Bok Gwi Ju saving Do Da Hae during a fire at Seonjae Girls’ High School and putting the Bok family ring on her finger. This dream suggests a possible future where Bok Gwi Ju sustains a neck wound while saving Do Da Hae, raising more questions about their intertwined fates.

My Thoughts
Let’s get real here. The burning question, “Was Bok Gwi Ju the one who saved Do Da Hae?” has been driving us all mad. The hints are everywhere, but the writers keep playing with our emotions! Bok Gwi Ju’s belief that he’s the savior feels almost too convenient, right? And then there’s the whole ring mystery – just when we think we have it figured out, another twist throws us off.
Bok Man Heum’s dream complicates things even further. Are we seriously supposed to believe that this dream is a peek into the future? It’s like the show is teasing us, dangling answers just out of reach. Personally, I think the creators are setting us up for an epic reveal, but the suspense is killing me. What do you think? Is Bok Gwi Ju truly the hero of Do Da Hae’s past, or are we being led down a rabbit hole of false clues? Either way, I can’t wait to see how this drama unfolds.
