Girl group Kep1er is confirmed to disband in July when their contract ends, according to exclusive reports from Starnews on April 25, 2024. The agency overseeing the group’s debut, Wake One, reportedly failed to reach a new agreement with the members after their debut survival show, Girls Planet 999.
Previously, Wake One had announced plans to negotiate with the member agencies for a contract renewal. However, this month, they declared that these negotiations were unsuccessful.
1. End of Kep1er‘s Contract in July 2024
From Starnews’ exclusive coverage, it’s confirmed that members such as Choi Yu Jin, Xiaoting, Mashiro, Kim Chae Hyun, Kim Da Yeon, Hikaru, Huening Bahiyyih, Seo Young Eun, and Kang Ye Seo will return to their respective agencies by the end of July. Before wrapping up, the group plans to bid farewell to fans with a final album release. Additionally, there are rumors of a farewell concert for Kep1ian fans.
2. Kep1er Disbands Due to Contract Expiry and Failed Negotiations
Before the news of the contract expiry, Wake One had expressed intentions to negotiate with all member companies to extend the group’s activities. However, despite efforts, these negotiations fell through. Kep1er now shares the fate of other groups from Mnet’s programs like IOI, Wanna One, and Izone, who only operated within the confines of their initial contracts.
