In the bustling world of fashion magazines, where style meets ambition, we meet Ploypailin (played by Fang Dhanantorn Neerasingh). She’s a young woman from a once-prosperous publishing family, but life takes an unexpected turn when her family business faces financial turmoil. As the family’s fortunes decline, so does Ploypailin’s once radiant beauty.

Enter Kevin (portrayed by Pae Arak Amornsupasiri), her childhood friend and secret first love. Kevin, now a handsome senior editor at the magazine, has his own memories of chubby, bespectacled Ploypailin. But when they reunite, he doesn’t recognize her—she’s transformed, both in appearance and circumstances. Determined to win Kevin’s heart, Ploypailin hatches a desperate plan: she convinces her attractive friend Randa (Malinee Adelaide Coates) to pose as her during a “reunion” with Kevin. And thus begins a tangled web of mistaken identities, unrequited feelings, and office chaos.

What Works

  1. Charming Premise: The drama’s central premise—Ploypailin’s attempt to reignite her connection with Kevin—is both relatable and endearing. Who hasn’t secretly yearned for a second chance with a childhood crush?
  2. Character Dynamics: The interactions between Ploypailin, Kevin, and Randa create delightful tension. As Ploypailin stumbles through her internship, Kevin remains blissfully unaware of her true identity. Meanwhile, Randa’s feelings add another layer of complexity.
  3. Humor: The show balances its romantic elements with humor. Whether it’s Ploypailin’s clumsy antics or the office shenanigans, there’s always a chuckle waiting around the corner.

Room for Improvement

  1. Uneven Zaniness: Some viewers might find the drama’s zaniness a bit overdone. While it adds to the charm, there are moments when it feels forced.
  2. Length: Like many Asian dramas, “Me Always You” could benefit from a shorter episode count. At 24 episodes, it occasionally meanders, diluting the impact of certain plot points.

Final Thoughts

“Me Always You” is a fun watch, especially if you’re a fan of romantic comedies. It’s a story of rediscovery, mistaken identities, and the messy yet heartwarming journey of love. While it may not reinvent the genre, it certainly delivers on its promise of entertainment. So grab your favorite snack, settle in, and let the drama unfold!

Remember, love stories are like fashion trends—they come and go, but the memories linger forever.
