A Surprisingly Satisfying BL Series
!I Will Knock You
“I Will Knock You” is an oddly satisfying and arguably one of the best BL series I’ve watched recently. While it may not have garnered as much attention as some of the bigger company productions, it managed to win me over with its unique charm.
Plot Overview:
The story revolves around Thi, a college student who works part-time as a tutor. One day, he finds himself entangled in a situation involving high-school gangsters and his student. When Thi confronts the gang’s leader, Noey, things take an unexpected turn. What starts as a seemingly ordinary premise evolves into a captivating tale of innocence, cluelessness, and unexpected connections.
Initial Reservations:
At first glance, the story might appear unremarkable—just another high school drama. The initial pacing felt a bit off, and the bullying theme bothered me. Why would a college student willingly put himself in an awkward position with a younger gang leader? However, as the episodes unfolded, I found myself drawn to Noey’s demeanor and Thi’s innocence. Their chemistry gradually pulled me in, and I eagerly awaited each new episode.
Character Dynamics:
Noey’s awkward acting—whether intentional or due to his amateur status—somehow worked in his favor. Thiwa’s portrayal of Thi blended well with Noey’s character, creating a believable connection. Auntie Tim, NidNhoi, and Thiw added depth to the story, making it more than just a typical BL series.
Visuals and Production Quality:
The series shines in terms of production quality. The set and locations are visually appealing, and the photography is above average. Unlike some other dramas, “I Will Knock You” allows its actors to shine without resorting to unnecessary tears or melodrama. Kudos to the creators for showcasing their acting skills in a more subtle yet impactful manner.
Unique End Credit Scenes:
One standout feature is the end credit scenes. They’re nothing short of genius. In episode 11, Thiwa dances alone after a heartbreaking cliffhanger confession. And in episode 12, they dance together via video call—a touching moment that left a lasting impression.
Final Thoughts:
“I Will Knock You” is a hidden gem. It combines humor, heart, and unexpected depth. The soundtrack, comedy, and fluffiness all contribute to its charm. The last episode wraps things up satisfyingly, leaving viewers with a sense of fulfillment. Tar and Bom’s performances deserve applause, and I hope to see more projects featuring this talented duo.
In summary, if you’re looking for a BL series that defies clichés and delivers genuine emotions, give “I Will Knock You” a watch. It’s a solid 9 out of 10 stars—a delightful series that deserves more recognition.
