A Whimsical Journey in the Hospitality World
Rating: 6.0/10
“Hotel Trainees” takes us behind the scenes of a bustling hotel, where romance blooms amidst the hustle and bustle. Let’s dive into the details:
- Plot Overview: The drama revolves around the budding romance between a hotel trainee and the hotel owner’s son. Initially, I expected more stories about customers and everyday encounters of trainees, but unfortunately, those were minimal. Instead, the focus remained primarily on the central couple. The first half of the drama was cute and fluffy, but the second half became tiring due to annoying and unreasonable characters. The lack of a robust plot was compensated by moments of fluff, although I’ve seen better fluff elsewhere.
- Character Dynamics:
- Female Lead (FL): Our hotel intern is persistent and optimistic, which draws the attention of the male lead.
- Male Lead (ML): The hotel owner’s son, attracted to the FL’s personality, becomes her pillar of support.
- Romance: The romance between the FL and ML is acceptable, though lacking the heart-fluttering chemistry I crave. Cute scenes pepper the drama, but the development after episode 15 felt less smooth.
- Strengths and Weaknesses:
- Fluffy Moments: The drama delivers on its fluffiness promise.
- Non-Toxic ML: Refreshingly, the ML doesn’t succumb to excessive angst.
- Underdeveloped Side Characters: Despite a plethora of characters, many remained underdeveloped.
- Too Many Clichés: The drama leans heavily on familiar tropes.
- Direction and Execution: The drama’s direction had its hiccups. At times, scenes felt disjointed, leaving viewers wondering if they missed something in between.
In summary, “Hotel Trainees” is an okay watch. If you find yourself between dramas and need a light-hearted, no-plot distraction, give it a shot. The drama’s fluffiness and non-toxic romance might just keep you entertained. However, don’t expect groundbreaking storytelling or character development.
