Review: Game of Wisdom is an underrated Chinese drama that delves into the challenges faced by engineer-businessmen in the heavy vehicle industry. Unlike typical modern C-dramas, this series features veteran actors who realistically portray the complexities of turning a struggling business into a competitive force in the international market.

Qin Hao shines as Sun He Ping, a government official with a business-oriented mindset. His character draws inspiration from real-life corporate leaders like Samsung’s late chairman, Lee Kun Hee. The drama avoids heavy romance, focusing instead on the intricacies of business strategy and industry dynamics.

The absence of conventionally attractive and youthful actors allows the story to focus on substance rather than aesthetics. The plot unfolds against the backdrop of a struggling corporation, and viewers witness Sun He Ping’s relentless efforts to revitalize it. The drama captures the essence of corporate maneuvering, emphasizing strategy, friendship, and the pursuit of success.

While romance takes a backseat, the camaraderie among characters adds depth to the narrative. The chemistry between Sun He Ping and his colleagues, especially his old classmate Yang Liu, provides a refreshing twist. The drama avoids clichés and melodrama, opting for a more grounded portrayal of professional relationships.

Game of Wisdom offers a glimpse into the world of heavy industry, where decisions impact not only profits but also people’s livelihoods. The tension between business acumen and ethical considerations keeps viewers engaged. The absence of unnecessary romantic subplots allows the story to maintain its focus on corporate challenges.

In summary, Game of Wisdom stands out for its mature storytelling, well-crafted characters, and emphasis on business dynamics. If you’re seeking a drama that combines strategy, friendship, and corporate intrigue, this underrated gem is worth a watch.
