“Fly, Again” is a high school romance drama that follows the journey of young love and big dreams. Directed by Oh Chung Pung, the series introduces us to Han Yo Han (played by Hyung Won), a talented dancer with aspirations of becoming a celebrity. Yo Han decides it’s time to transition from being a genius dancer to an all-around talented idol. To pursue his dreams, he transfers to Hanbit Art High School.

However, things don’t go smoothly for Yo Han at his new school. An unfortunate accident shatters his lifelong dreams, leaving him searching for a new path. Coincidentally, he crosses paths with the members of the dance club called “Villains.” As he spends more time with them, Yo Han discovers an entirely new world opening up before him.

Enter On Ji Min (played by Joo Se Bin), an honor student born to be an idol. Ji Min’s family constantly pushes her to excel, leaving her with no choice but to overachieve. But when their relationship takes an unexpected turn, both Yo Han and Ji Min find the courage to dream new dreams. Together, they navigate the challenges of pursuing their aspirations while facing obstacles from the world around them.

Review:

“Fly, Again” has its strengths and weaknesses. Let’s break it down:

  1. Story: Unfortunately, the story falls short. It’s weak and confusing, leaving viewers wanting more. The character development lacks depth, especially for the majority of the cast. The dialogues can be dull at times, with some characters feeling underdeveloped. However, the central theme of dreams and perseverance remains engaging.
  2. Acting/Cast: The performances are decent, but not exceptional. Hyung Won as Han Yo Han brings sincerity to his role, while Joo Se Bin portrays On Ji Min’s struggles convincingly. The chemistry between the leads is palpable, but the supporting characters could have been better fleshed out.
  3. Music: The OST and music are the drama’s saving grace. The soundtrack adds emotional depth and enhances key moments. If anything, watch it for the music!
  4. Rewatch Value: Unfortunately, the drama lacks rewatch value. Once you’ve seen it, there’s little incentive to revisit.

In summary, “Fly, Again” is worth a watch, especially if you’re a fan of music-themed dramas. While it has its flaws, the music and central theme make it an enjoyable experience. Just don’t expect perfection.
