The Thai remake of “Find Yourself” offers a fresh take on the original Chinese drama. Here are some key points:
- Pacing and Episode Count: Unlike the original, which had a whopping 41 episodes, the Thai version wisely condenses the story into 16 episodes. This reduction in episode count allows for a more engaging pace. Viewers won’t have to endure prolonged separations between the main leads, which was a common complaint in the original. The decision to trim down the series benefits the overall viewing experience.
- Character Dynamics: The chemistry between the lead characters is not as strong as one might hope. However, there are moments that shine, especially when the female lead gets drunk. Thankfully, there are no non-consensual scenes in this show, which is a relief for viewers. The secondary characters, particularly the office staff, add depth to the story.
- Brotherly Relationships: In the original, the FL’s brother was a wonderful character, and the sibling bond was heartwarming. Unfortunately, the Thai version doesn’t delve as deeply into the brother’s character, but at least he doesn’t become a massive hypocrite regarding his sister’s relationship. His growth toward the end is appreciated.
- OST: The drama’s soundtrack includes the beautiful song “I’m Missing You,” which resonates with viewers. Music plays a significant role in enhancing emotional moments.
- Parental Characters: The mother’s behavior can be annoying, and the father’s subplot feels somewhat pointless. While parents aren’t perfect, these characters sometimes come across as frustrating rather than relatable.
In summary, “Find Yourself” (2023) offers a sweet romance with room for improvement. If you’re a fan of mature characters falling in love, give it a watch. Just be prepared for a few bumps along the way.
