A Roller Coaster of Intrigue and Frustration

When the series first graced our screens, it was like a breath of fresh air. The comedy sparkled, the fourth wall crumbled, and the genius female lead—straight-faced and confident—had us hooked. And let’s not forget the delightful twist: the male lawyer, usually the stoic one, revealed his emotional side. The SML cop character added spice to the mix. For those initial four episodes, I was all in.

But then, like a soufflé collapsing, the story took a nosedive. The intrigue fizzled, and the plot stagnated. Suddenly, I found myself nodding off during episodes. The show’s pace slowed to a crawl, weighed down by complicated discussions that left me befuddled. I couldn’t fast-forward; I’d miss crucial details. It was a struggle from episode 5 to 10, with episode 11 offering a brief respite before plunging back into boredom.

The turning point came around the 12th episode. Finally, the story regained its footing. The fourth wall returned, the humor resurfaced, and the narrative picked up speed. Those last four episodes were a redemption arc, but I couldn’t shake the frustration of the preceding dullness. Perhaps this drama would have fared better as a concise 10-12 episode series.

What Worked:

  1. Mystery Element: Despite the convoluted plot, the mystery kept me engaged.
  2. Teamwork and Friendships: No romance, but solid camaraderie among characters.
  3. Acting: The cast delivered, even if one of the “kids” grated on my nerves.

What Didn’t Work:

  1. Pacing: The midsection dragged, testing my patience.
  2. Length: Sixteen episodes felt excessive; trimming would have helped.

Verdict: Delightfully Deceitful wraps up with a satisfying ending, rewarding those who persevered. The struggle was real, but the payoff made it worthwhile. If you’re a fan of the con genre, give it a shot. Just brace yourself for the occasional yawn-inducing stretch.

In summary, Delightfully Deceitful is a mixed bag—a roller coaster of intrigue and frustration. Chun Woo Hee’s captivating portrayal and the well-crafted story keep you hooked, but the pacing woes might test your resolve. Overall, it’s a drama worth exploring, especially if you’re a fan of twists, turns, and a dash of deception .
