A Golfing Drama with Swings and Misses
Birdie Buddy tees off as a typical sports story. Our protagonist, Mi Soo, is an underdog with a passion for golf. She dreams of breaking into the big leagues, but her journey is fraught with obstacles. As someone who isn’t particularly sporty, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this drama—until the last two episodes.
The Good:
- Solid Writing: The story starts out nicely, and the acting is commendable.
- Character Development: Mi Soo’s growth, her family life, and her friendships are engaging.
- Unexpected Plot Twist: An unexpected element spices up the drama midway, and I was hooked.
The Not-So-Good:
- The Sand Trap: Unfortunately, the twisty plot element fizzles out by episode 22. It’s like hitting the ball into a sandpit—the writer struggled to get it back on the green. The ending left me feeling unsatisfied.
- Romance Swing and a Miss: The romance lacked believability, and the nonsensical ending didn’t help.
Final Score:
- Overall: 7.0
- Story: 7.0
- Acting/Cast: 9.0
- Music: 8.0
- Rewatch Value: 5.0
Despite the disappointing ending, I still recommend Birdie Buddy. Maybe the finale won’t bother others as much as it did me. Give it a shot—just be prepared for a few rough patches on the fairway.
In summary, Birdie Buddy had potential, but the final hole left me wanting more. The drama’s writing and acting are strong, but the romance and ending could use some mulligans. If you’re a golf enthusiast or enjoy character-driven stories, give it a swing!
