A Thrilling Legal Drama with a Few Missteps

“Big Mouth” (빅마우스) is a hardboiled crime cum legal drama that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. Developed by ‘Studio Dragon’ and produced by ‘AStory’ & ‘A-Man Project,’ this series introduces us to Park Chang Ho (played by Lee Jong Suk), an infamous attorney with a low success rate. His nickname, “Big Mouth,” stems from his tendency to make grand promises but fail to deliver.

The Good:

  1. Unique Premise: The drama’s premise is refreshingly different. It delves into the murky world of legal battles, where power and money often dictate outcomes.
  2. Lee Jong Suk’s Performance: Lee Jong Suk shines in his role as Park Chang Ho. His portrayal of the flawed attorney adds depth to the character.
  3. Tension and Suspense: The series maintains a consistent level of tension throughout. Viewers are kept guessing about the next twist or revelation.
  4. Strong Supporting Cast: Kim Jeo Hoon impresses as a rival attorney, while Im Yoo Na delivers a compelling performance until her character takes an unexpected turn.

The Not-So-Good:

  1. Rushed Ending: The last 10 minutes of the finale almost ruin the entire series. The creators attempt to wrap up 16 episodes in a few minutes, leaving viewers feeling betrayed. The ending feels out of character for the main leads and lacks the emotional payoff expected after investing in the story.
  2. Missed Opportunities: The drama could have benefited from an additional episode or an extended finale. Some character arcs remain unresolved, leaving viewers wanting more.

Verdict:

“Big Mouth” is a rollercoaster ride of suspense, legal battles, and flawed characters. While it stumbles in its final moments, the journey is worth it. Lee Jong Suk’s performance and the unique premise make it a memorable watch.
