Synopsis
Yai (Mondop Heamtan) is a promising and handsome Business Administration student who captivates hearts at a single glance. He is being interviewed for a university-produced video segment, where he hopes to win the heart of the woman he likes. And just when he thinks he’s succeeded, in walks the fifth-year Architecture student Mangkorn (Panuwat Sopradit). The latter, another wildly attractive and super-confident young man, immediately steals Yai’s thunder. Viewers of the video also agree that Mangkorn is a handsome and worthy individual, and leave disapproving comments about Yai.
Yai plots to bring about Mangkorn’s downfall, but instead, the two end up getting drunk and having a wild night of romance together – which Mangkorn videotapes. Yai resolves to forget all about his humiliation at the hands of Mangkorn, and instead decides to renovate the upscale bar that his family owns. But fate intervenes once more when the architect Yai hires to redesign the bar turns out to be none other than Mangkorn… Will hate turn to love? Or will one of these scheming young men eventually get the better of the other?

Editor's Review
Great Chemistry, Questionable Plot Execution
Yai and Mangkorn are romantic rivals. One night, at Yai’s newly inherited pub, the two drink together. Yai has nefarious plans for the evening, but they backfire, and he and Mangkorn end up spending a wild night together. Taunted by Mangkorn, who has footage of their hookup the next day, Yai takes his anger out on the pub. He hopes to forget what transpired between them and sink himself into pub renovations, but when he meets with the design team, he’s surprised to see fifth-year architecture student Mangkorn among them.
Content and Quality:
- Big Dragon crams multiple plot points into its eight episodes, leaving some storylines underdeveloped. We encounter child acquaintances, loss of a parent, enemies-to-lovers dynamics, playboys falling in love, arranged marriages, studying abroad, and more. The editing could have been improved, as scenes sometimes felt disjointed.
- The chemistry between Mos (Mangkorn) and Bank (Yai) is the drama’s highlight. Their natural skinship and intense gazes add depth to their characters.
Expertise and Trustworthiness:
- The drama lacks easily-verified factual errors, but its premise remains murky and unexplored.
- While the drama doesn’t fully address its dark storyline, it still manages to engage viewers.
Visual Appeal:
- The OST is amazing, showcasing Bank’s beautiful voice.
- Visually, the drama contrasts Mangkorn and Yai’s outfits, expensive cars, and picturesque locations.
In summary, Big Dragon (2022) offers great chemistry between its leads but stumbles due to an overcrowded plot. Despite its flaws, it’s an enjoyable watch for fans of romance and drama. The drama could benefit from clearer storytelling and more focused plotlines. If you’re looking for a visually pleasing series with intriguing characters, give it a shot!
