Editor's Review
“Better off Mine” follows the intertwined lives of Tid, Giew, Pin, and Piang. Tid and Giew were once university sweethearts, but life took them in different directions. Giew becomes a strict and famous lakorn director, while Tid’s TV show faces decline. Pin, Tid’s wife, quits her job to become a housewife. Due to Pin’s health issues, they decide to explore surrogacy. Meanwhile, Giew’s ex-boyfriend gets married, leading to chaos. Giew, now unemployed, decides to carry her gay best friend Piang’s child. But a mix-up occurs, and Giew ends up carrying Tid and Pin’s child, while Pin carries Giew and Piang’s child.
Review: “Better off Mine” is not your typical lakorn. It kicks off with chaos—baby switching, ex-boyfriends, and unexpected twists. And that’s precisely what makes it fun and interesting. The drama keeps violence at bay, which is refreshing. As the story unfolds, you’ll encounter tear-jerking moments that heal both the characters and the viewers. The pain and tears become an essential part of the healing process.
The characters are well-developed, and their relationships evolve realistically. The acting is commendable, especially by Pong Nawat Kulrattanarak (Tid) and Kob Suvanant Kongying (Giew). The emotional rollercoaster takes you from laughter to tears, leaving a lasting impact.
The drama explores themes like surrogacy, marriage of convenience, workplace dynamics, and friendship. It’s heartwarming to witness the characters’ growth and resilience. The absence of excessive violence allows the focus to remain on their emotional journeys.
The ending is beautifully crafted, wrapping up loose ends and leaving you with a sense of closure. Prepare your tissues—the tearful moments are worth it.
Recommendation: I highly recommend “Better off Mine” to fans of unconventional romance and heartwarming stories. If you appreciate character-driven dramas with unexpected twists, this one’s for you. Just remember to keep those tissues handy!
