A Heartwarming Taiwanese BL Slice-of-Life
In the realm of Taiwanese BL dramas, “About Youth” offers a sweet and nostalgic journey through high school life. While it has its flaws, the chemistry between the leads and the relatable moments make it a worthwhile watch.
Plot Summary: “About Youth” follows the lives of Ye Guang (played by Jyun) and Zhen Hao (played by Zhen Hao), two high school students navigating friendship, love, and personal growth. Their interactions are filled with awkwardness, genuine care, and the innocence of youth.
Review: The drama captures the essence of high school—the fleeting moments, the friendships, and the uncertainties. Jyun and Zhen Hao’s chemistry is heartwarming, and their performances resonate. The umbrella motif with “About Youth” written on it adds a nostalgic touch.
However, the drama suffers from being too short. With only 8 episodes, it rushes through plotlines, drops threads, and leaves some characters underdeveloped. Repetitive scenes could have been better utilized. The introduction of too many characters initially confuses viewers.
Despite its flaws, “About Youth” remains a comforting watch. It balances lighter moments with deeper emotions, portraying a realistic high school romance. The OST and production values enhance the experience.
