NCT Dream’s Renjun has reportedly stepped back from his busy schedule due to health concerns. On Saturday (13/4/2024), SM Entertainment announced that the 24-year-old idol would be taking a temporary break amidst his group’s performance commitments.
As a result, Renjun was absent from Japanese music shows, such as Venue 101, as well as fan signing events for NCT Dream in Shanghai. How is Renjun currently faring?
1. Renjun is Taking a Break Due to Health Issues
SM Entertainment disclosed that Renjun’s health has not been optimal, leading to his inability to attend the Japanese music event, Venue 101, held last Saturday.
Additionally, Renjun was unable to participate in the fan signing event for NCT Dream in Shanghai scheduled for Sunday (14/4/2024). Due to his declining health, Renjun decided to take a hiatus from his group’s performances.
“Due to his worsening physical condition, Renjun of NCT Dream will not be able to attend the NHK Show Venue 101 event in Japan. He will also be absent from the fan signing event in China on April 14,” stated SM Entertainment in an official announcement.
2. Renjun’s Health Takes Priority
Currently, Renjun is focusing on resting and recuperating his health. SM Entertainment emphasized their commitment to prioritizing the well-being of their artists. Consequently, the agency plans to manage Renjun’s future activities more flexibly.
“Renjun is presently resting, and we intend to prioritize his recovery as our foremost concern and adjust his upcoming activities accordingly,” reiterated SM Entertainment, as reported by allKpop.
3. Prior Signs of Physical Changes Before Illness
Before the agency clarified Renjun’s deteriorating health, there was speculation regarding the idol’s physical transformation. His appearance at a press conference prior to the release of NCT Dream’s mini-album, Smoothies, in March 2024 garnered attention and various comments.
Renjun was noted to have gained weight and faced allegations of undergoing plastic surgery. Responding to these comments, the NCT Dream vocalist addressed his altered appearance.
“Some may be disappointed by my changed appearance. However, I am still me. My voice and dance remain Renjun. Weight can be lost, but I am grateful for the continued support,” expressed Renjun via the Dear U. Bubble platform some time ago.
Let us hope for Renjun’s swift recovery and eagerly anticipate his return to the stage, NCTizens!
