A Heartfelt Exploration of Love and Understanding

Rating: 9.0/10

“Isa Pa, with Feelings” is a wonderful film that transcends the typical romantic movie formula. Set against the backdrop of an architect falling for a deaf person, the film delves into themes of love, acceptance, and empathy. As a viewer, I found it both touching and enlightening.

Story: The plot may seem simple—an architect named Gali falls for a deaf woman named Mara—but it feels deeply personal. Unlike standard rom-coms, this film portrays the life of deaf individuals with accuracy and sensitivity. The characters are not treated as problems; instead, their differences are embraced. The story unfolds with reasonable misunderstandings, fear of being hurt, and the struggle of feeling like an outsider.

Acting: Maine Mendoza and Carlo Aquino deliver exceptional performances. Their emotions resonate not only through words but also in their expressions. When Mara and Gali are happy, their faces light up, and their chemistry is palpable. Equally, their moments of sadness and regret are heart-wrenching.

OST (Original Soundtrack): The songs “Buwan” by Juan Karlos and “Sino” by Unique Salonga are forever linked to the film’s scenes. The music complements the visuals, enhancing the emotional impact. Notably, during a dance scene, the audio is intentionally cut, allowing us to experience what Gali hears—nothing. It’s a powerful choice.

Rewatch Value: This film is highly rewatchable. Mara and Gali’s story draws you in, and their journey resonates deeply. I’ve already watched it three times, and yes, I shed tears during my first two rewatches.

In summary, “Isa Pa, with Feelings” is a love story that goes beyond clichés. It treats its characters with respect, educates viewers about deafness, and leaves a lasting impression. Bookmark it, share it with friends, and appreciate its substantial value.

Would I expect to see this content in a printed magazine or encyclopedia? Absolutely. It’s a gem worth revisiting.
