Money Game, a popular webtoon, premiered on LINE Webtoon on September 3, 2020. Created by Bae Jin Soo, it spans a total of 60 episodes. Here’s a detailed recap and an explanation of the Money Game webtoon ending. Warning: This article contains spoilers!
What is Money Game?
Money Game is a unique webtoon centered around a real variety show that broadcasts live from a specially designed studio. The show features eight participants from various countries who must survive for 100 days under challenging conditions. Each participant is assigned a room equipped with an interphone to order daily necessities, but there are no other facilities provided.
The initial prize pool for the participants is 44.8 billion won. However, this balance is deducted based on their purchases, which are priced at 1000 times the market rate. Participants receive the remaining balance, divided equally, after 100 days. If anyone opts out, they still receive 10 million won for transportation costs. Participants must stay in their rooms from midnight to 8 am, or else they face a 10 percent deduction from the prize balance. The organizers also control which items can be purchased.
Conflicts and Resolutions in Money Game
Throughout the 100 days, participants face numerous conflicts, starting with excessive spending on the first day. Under participant number 6’s leadership, they initially managed to control expenditures and even held a party. However, number 6’s death from alcohol poisoning disrupted the group’s stability.
Following this, participants number 3 and number 4 seized control, enforcing strict spending limits. Tensions rose when spending hit 1 billion won in one day, leading number 4 to punish all participants. The relationship between number 3 and number 4 deteriorated, culminating in violence and their eventual confinement in their rooms.
Participant number 7 took over leadership, but chaos ensued when number 4 escaped and resumed terrorizing others. This led to number 5 accidentally killing number 4 and taking charge. Number 5 maintained strict control, even destroying interphones to prevent excessive orders, ensuring minimal expenditure.
By the end of the game, only participants number 7 and number 8 survived. However, they didn’t win any money. Number 5 had spent all their funds before dying, and number 8’s overnight absence led to a 10 percent balance deduction, leaving them in debt instead of with a prize.
A New Beginning for Participant Number 8
After the Money Game ended, participant number 8 had to work hard to clear his debts. He learned through the news that participant number 7 was involved in illegal euthanasia on animals. One day, while cleaning windows on a skyscraper, number 8 saw a large screen with the message “WE INVITE YOU,” hinting at a new opportunity.
In a prior episode, number 8 had asked the organizers if there were other games to join. The flashing camera light suggested an affirmative response. Thus, the story ends with number 8 potentially stepping into another challenging game.
