The fourth installment in The Roundup series, titled The Roundup: Punishment, is finally playing in cinemas. This time, the protagonist, Detective Ma Seok Do (Don Lee), is on the trail of developers running an illegal online gambling operation in the Philippines.
Recognizing his lack of expertise in the digital realm, the detective assembles a cyber investigation team with Han Ji Su, portrayed by Lee Joo Bin, who is also currently starring in the ongoing drama Queen of Tears.
Recall that the previous installment, The Roundup: No Way Out (2023), teased fans with a post-credits scene. Will this latest installment follow suit?
1. Detective Ma Seok Do Forms a Cyber Investigation Team
The Roundup: Punishment once again follows Detective Ma Seok Do as he pursues criminals. This time, he’s after the developers of an illegal online gambling app operating out of the Philippines.
Further investigation reveals ties to Korea’s largest illegal online gambling organization. Recognizing his digital limitations, Detective Ma assembles a cyber investigation team comprising IT experts Han Ji Su (Lee Joo Bin) and Kang Nam Su (Kim Shin Bi).
However, the case proves challenging, as it’s connected to a former special forces officer, Baek Chang Gi (Kim Moo Yeol), who leads the online gambling organization. Baek Chang Gi is depicted as cunning, skilled in combat, and ruthless in executing his plans.
2. Is There a Post-Credits Scene in The Roundup: Punishment?
The Roundup: Punishment delivers intense action scenes along with comedic moments. Unlike previous installments, however, this film, featuring Lee Dong Hwi as one of the villains, does not include a post-credits scene. After the film concludes, the audience can leave the cinema without waiting for additional footage.

The Roundup: Punishment premiered as part of the Berlinale Special Gala at the 74th Berlin International Film Festival on February 23, 2024. Theatrical release, directed by Heo Myung Haeng, commenced on April 24, 2024.
