Lee Je Hoon has been receiving a lot of attention lately because of his recent TV show, Chief Detective 1958. He portrays the younger version of detective Park Yeong Han from the series Detective Inspector (1971). This new show even got impressive ratings when the first episode aired.
Shortly after Chief Detective 1958 wrapped up, Lee Je Hoon will take on a new role on the big screen. He will portray a North Korean soldier in the movie directed by Lee Jong Pil called Escape. Here are seven key facts about Lee Je Hoon’s character in the film:
1. The character Lee Je Hoon plays is Sergeant Im Kyu Nam. He has served for 10 years in the North Korean military.
2. However, Kyu Nam can’t see a future for himself in that country. Instead, he dreams of freedom in South Korea and wants to escape there.
3. Kyu Nam has been planning his escape for years. However, his plans are discovered by a fellow soldier named Dong Hyuk (Hong Xa Bin).
4. The low-ranking soldier thwarts Kyu Nam’s plan by attempting to escape first, but he gets caught.
5. Dong Hyuk’s actions lead to Kyu Nam also being arrested as a deserter and facing the death penalty.
6. Despite this setback, Kyu Nam is turned into a hero who captures deserters by Major Ri Hyun Sang (Koo Kyo Hwan), who has known him since childhood.
7. However, this doesn’t deter Kyu Nam from trying to escape. His determination forces Hyun Sang to pursue him.
The motivations driving Kyu Nam’s actions until the end of his escape are truly compelling. Escape will only hit South Korean cinemas next July, with no confirmation yet on whether it will be shown in Indonesian cinemas. Stay tuned for more updates!
