Some Korean artists require a substantial amount of time to recharge their energy after being engrossed in acting projects. They also adopt a lifestyle reminiscent of the unemployed, abstaining from work and dedicating themselves solely to activities at home.
Here, we spotlight several Korean artists who are relishing their downtime and embracing a leisurely pace akin to that of the unemployed following the conclusion of their drama shoots. Let’s delve in!
1. Kim Ji Won
Kim Ji Won, in an interview with Cosmopolitan Korea on April 19, confessed to having wrapped up filming for the drama Queen of Tears (2024). Post-project, she savored her time resting at home, reveling in moments of repose as if she were without employment.
During her downtime, Kim Ji Won follows a range of simple routines. Typically, she rises in the morning, basks in the sunlight, sips coffee, and takes leisurely strolls while tuning in to her favorite music. She cherishes these tranquil moments to rejuvenate her energy.
2. Seolhyun AOA
Seolhyun of AOA, in an interview with Singles in 2023, divulged her post-Summer Strike (2022) filming routine. She admitted to living a life akin to that of an unemployed individual, abstaining from work commitments. Her day kicks off with watching a football match, followed by retiring to bed at 6 am. Rising at noon, she indulges in sweet potatoes and coffee.
Following her meal, she reclines until 6 pm before engaging in exercise at 9 p.m., occasionally swapping it for a bout of climbing. Additionally, she enjoys daily walks with her dog and indulges in watching dramas and films until the wee hours. Pursuits like attending art classes and knitting also occupy her time, particularly during the World Cup season when dietary restraint takes a backseat to enjoying indulgent treats.
3. Gong Yoo
In an interview with Elle in 2017, Gong Yoo shared his experience of taking a hiatus post-completion of the drama Goblins (2016). He candidly expressed feeling a sense of despondency and anxiety following his hectic schedule. Both physical and mental fatigue took their toll on the actor.
However, after weathering this rough patch and letting go of certain burdens, Gong Yoo found solace in time spent on personal pursuits. Although he was eager to embark on new projects, opportunities were scarce at the time. Nonetheless, he remained open to new ventures and fostering meaningful connections following his extended break.
For these Korean artists, adopting a relaxed approach reminiscent of the unemployed post-drama shoots serves as a means to replenish their expended energy reserves. This respite is well-deserved after the rigors of their filming commitments.
