Yu Dae Cheon (played by Choi Duk Moon) leads Unit 1 of the Jongnam Police. He’s the only chief detective who refuses to bow down to the local gangsters. However, this has led to him being isolated until Park Yeong Han (played by Lee Je Hoon) joins his team.
Choi Dal Sik (played by Oh Yong) often feels threatened by Yu Dae Cheon’s actions whenever they interact. In episode six, he even attacks the chief detective. Here are seven reasons why Choi Dal Sik harmed Yu Dae Cheon in Chief Detective 1958.
1. Yu Dae Cheon used to be a special police officer dealing with anti-national activities. He investigated pro-Japanese individuals, including Choi Dal Sik.
2. If this information became public and was officially investigated, Choi Dal Sik’s position would be at risk. So, he avoided confronting Yu Dae Cheon.
3. However, Choi Dal Sik is now set to be promoted within the National Police. He no longer feels the need to be cautious around Yu Dae Cheon.
4. Despite this, Yu Dae Cheon continues to send letters to the Supreme Council for National Reconstruction, reporting Choi Dal Sik’s past actions.
5. Yu Dae Cheon’s letters not only target Choi Dal Sik but also the Sinkwang Association, comprising former pro-Japanese officials.
6. To avoid humiliation by the military, Choi Dal Sik faces expulsion from the association if he doesn’t stop Yu Dae Cheon.
7. Choi Dal Sik’s promotion to deputy director at the National Police is in jeopardy. He injures Yu Dae Cheon to clear his path to promotion.
Fortunately, Yu Dae Cheon survives Choi Dal Sik’s attack, orchestrated through his new subordinate, Baek Do Seok (played by Kim Min Jae). However, this incident is just the beginning of the threat to Yu Dae Cheon and Unit 1. We await Park Yeong Han’s team’s response in the upcoming episode of Chief Detective 1958.
