1. Arranged Marriage
The signs of their fate began with an arranged marriage by the royal family. Before the conflict between Queen Mother Min Soo Ryeon (played by Myung Se Bin) and Yi Gun, all parties agreed that Myung Yoon would become the crown princess. Even Sang Rok, obsessed with this idea, didn’t object. Both Yi Gun and Myung Yoon complied with their family’s wishes.
2. Bad Luck Removal Ritual
Sang Rok’s determination to make Myung Yoon the crown princess led him to attempt to eliminate a prophecy predicting their misfortune. This involved a ritual where Myung Yoon had to undergo a mock wedding with another man, which turned out to be Yi Gun. Myung Yoon, aware of the ceremony, couldn’t bring herself to marry another man.
3. Myung Yoon’s Aid
Despite meeting under unusual circumstances, Myung Yoon still helped Yi Gun, unaware of his true identity. She even stayed up late to ensure his safety and played a crucial role in healing him after he was injured.
4. Escape and Reunion
Yi Gun faced false accusations of poisoning the king and was imprisoned. With the help of his half-sister, he managed to escape. Similarly, Myung Yoon, unwilling to become the crown princess, fled before the selection announcement, promising to return only if someone else was chosen. Interestingly, they reunited multiple times during their escapes.
5. Growing Love
During their journey outside the palace, Yi Gun and Myung Yoon’s feelings for each other deepened. Initially, Yi Gun teased Myung Yoon by asking her to call him “husband,” but he began showing genuine care for her. Similarly, Myung Yoon’s feelings evolved from guilt and pity to a desire to always be together, evident in her happiness when Yi Gun showed concern.
Their budding romance is evident, even to their personal servants. Could fate indeed lead them to become the crown prince and princess in Missing Crown Prince?
